Author Recs
Everything nlbv has written. Stunning prose, compelling character work, sex as exploration of trauma, sex as character study. Incredibly harrowing stuff and always mindblowingly well-written. Also for a lighter option, Babyfather (T) lives rent free in my head. For the other extreme end, criminally underrated Slip (M) made me physically gag while reading it and I’m never going to read it again under pain of death.
Everything gaypiratedivorce (@puentera) has written but especially ‘nothing left to give you now’ (E) an old man Daniel x Louis fic which rewired my brain when I read it, it is so excellent, in my head it’s always THE fic. The series ‘two on the road and one at the resurrection’ (T - E) is also a brilliant masterpiece and I’ve fallen behind in Little Kidnaps (M) but it’s soooo good, I’m just waiting until I have a free weekend to read it all from the beginning and catch up again.
Book-Verse Recs
In terms of long fic in book-verse, Begin Again (E) by Licncourt (@licncourt) and The Long Way Home (E) by sofipitch (@sofipitch) and immortal_conclusions are both amazing. As soon as I finished these, I went right back to the start and reread them from the beginning.
Ongoing Multi-Chapters
‘The Splendour of Us’ (E) by lesfleursrouges (@lesfleursrouges) is incredible. A slow moving brutal tragedy that really makes you viscerally feel the horror of time as it stretches out in the wake of Claudia dying the night of Mardi Gras. I can’t wait to see Lestat die a miserable death in it.
i am in love with him. (i gut him as i say it) (E) by luvrluvrluvr. I feel like I can’t even say anything coherent about this because every time I read a chapter I feel like my brain is melting in the best way possible. Genius writer. Makes me feel insane. No notes.
Assorted One-Shots
Assorted one-shots that keep rotating in my brain at the moment:
seeing a lot of people posting about “why is everyone acting so crazy lately what’s going on” girl it’s COVID. we did the research and we know for a fact that COVID gives you brain damage, microstrokes, and other serious cognitive pathology. it makes people stupid, impulsive, angry and crazy. it messes with your ability to process and store information. this is on top of the intense background stress that will make you act out even if you don’t have brain damage. traffic accidents are up. road rage incidents are up. check my COVID tag I’ve reblogged and posted a lot of information on this. every single person who got COVID of any severity is at risk of having brain damage and cognitive problems of unknown severity, for an unpredictable length of time. it’s not bullshit it’s just the data as it has been measured
A study of blood donors in America found COVID antibodies in almost everyone (96.4%). 22.6% had antibodies from infection only, while 47.7% had antibodies from both infection and vaccination.
More than 70% of Americans, or 234,000,000 people, have had COVID. According to the Harvard study, 40% of patients who had COVID show some sign of psychological, behavioral, and/or cognitive impairment. That’s almost 94,000,000 people in the US, or about 28% of our population.
1 in every 4 Americans is suffering from cognitive, behavioral, or psychological problems brought about by COVID infections, and we have no idea when that’s going to change.
I don’t think Hannibal and Will ever kissed nor had sex in the entire series and I don’t think they would have for a long time after the fall
I always see people saying stuff like “omg they totally had sex between those scenes” and creating fics about that, but even if I think it would be kinda funny and interesting, I also think it contradicts a lot about how the show established their relationship was like at the time. Will just fully accepted Hannibal and Hannibal just truly gave up control after the fall
Yes they are obviously very horny and desperate for each other but I think that even after the fall they wouldn’t immediately get romantically (being officially a couple and stuff) nor sexually involved
I think they would need to really get used to being vulnerable around each other before doing anything of the sorts. And in this time after the fall they both know they’re together in some non traditional way without ever really talking about it. As the time passes they eventually would get to the “what are we?” conversation but that would take a lot of time and a lot of drinking
I like to imagine that after the fall they run away and go live together (obviously) and they would behave like a couple but not exactly be one. They would slowly start doing things like drinking, changing clothes, sleeping and bathing together and stuff like that but it would all be non sexual and they’d both take their time getting used to doing that
Because let’s be honest, neither of them have any idea of how to behave and how their relationship would work and they’re both rediscovering each other in an entirely different way, and they’re both so scared of separating again
I just really don’t see their relationship being as sexual as people expect it to be that’s it thanks for listening to my non sense rambling
(yes they’re relationship is obviously sexual I’m not trying to say it isn’t, this is just my idea of them getting used to each other after the fall)
I 100% agree with this. I feel like by the end hannibal and will are in different points in their acceptance journeys. Hannibal admitted to himself, by the time he got arrested, that he loves Will and that he was capable to wait for him and stop trying to force things. By the time of the fall, he accepted that the one in control was Will and he was willing to go through whatever Will wanted to.
Will on the other hand, by the time of the fall accepted not only his love for Hannibal but also that Hannibal loved him as well… Still I think that the most significant thing he made peace with is who he is.
So yeah… It will take years for them to be comfortable with their relationship and in Will’s case, feel comfortable with his sexuality as well.
They’re for sure a sexual relationship but is a slow process to get to that point.
